1. What is Pecto Drill Syrup and What is it Used For

Pecto Drill contains the active substance carbocisteine, which affects the composition of bronchial secretions. Carbocisteine makes the secretions less viscous and more fluid, making them easier to remove from the airways during coughing (mucolytic action). This medication is used for the symptomatic treatment of respiratory system diseases characterized by excessive production of thick and viscous secretions. Pecto Drill is indicated for use in adults, adolescents, and children over 2 years of age.

2. Important Information Before Using Pecto Drill Syrup

When Not to Use Pecto Drill Syrup

  • in breastfeeding women.
  • in children under 2 years of age.

Warnings and Precautions

Before starting to use Pecto Drill Syrup, you should discuss it with your doctor, as special caution is required when using Pecto Drill:

  • do not use simultaneously with antitussive medications and/or medications that reduce bronchial secretion. The cough reflex is a natural defense mechanism of the lungs and should not be suppressed. The use of this medication should be accompanied by an unhampered cough reflex to facilitate the removal of secretions.
  • do not use if you have severe respiratory failure, as it may lead to airway obstruction

Pecto Drill Syrup and Other Medications

Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all medications you are currently taking or have recently taken, as well as any medications you plan to take. When using Pecto Drill Syrup, do not use other medications containing carbocisteine (to avoid exceeding the maximum dose), antitussive medications, or medications that reduce bronchial secretion.

Pregnancy, Breastfeeding, and Fertility

The use of this medication is not recommended in pregnant women. The use of this medication is contraindicated during breastfeeding (see "When Not to Use Pecto Drill Syrup"). If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or plan to have a child, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this medication.

Driving and Using Machines

Pecto Drill Syrup has no or negligible influence on the ability to drive and use machines.

What Pecto Drill Syrup Contains

  • methyl parahydroxybenzoate, which may cause allergic reactions (possible late-type reactions).
  • 6 g of sucrose in 15 ml of syrup. This should be taken into account in patients with diabetes. If intolerance to some sugars has been previously determined in the patient, the patient should contact their doctor before taking the medication.
  • 0.1 g of sodium (main component of common salt) in 15 ml of syrup. This corresponds to 5% of the maximum recommended daily intake of sodium in the diet of an adult.

3. How to Use Pecto Drill Syrup

This medication should always be used as directed by your doctor. If you are unsure, consult your doctor or pharmacist. 15 ml of syrup contains 750 mg of carbocisteine. A measuring cup is included with the packaging, allowing you to measure the correct volume of syrup. Dosage Adults and adolescents over 12 years old: The recommended dose is 15 ml of syrup, initially 3 times a day (3 x 15 ml). Fill the measuring cup to the 15 ml mark. After the mucolytic effect occurs (thinning of secretions), the dosage can be reduced to 10 ml of syrup 3 times a day (3 x 10 ml). Fill the measuring cup to the 10 ml mark. The maximum daily dose is 45 ml of syrup (3 x 15 ml). Children: from 6 to 12 years old: the recommended dose is 5 ml of syrup 3 times a day (fill the measuring cup to the 5 ml mark); from 2 to 5 years old: the recommended dose is 2.5 ml to 5 ml of syrup 2 times a day (fill the measuring cup to the 2.5 ml or 5 ml mark); under 2 years old: the syrup is contraindicated in children under 2 years old. It is recommended that the child drinks water after taking the dose. Do not use this medication before bedtime. Route and Method of Administration This medication is for oral use. Shake the bottle before use. Always wash the measuring cup with water and let it dry after use. Store the bottle and measuring cup together in the carton for the next use in a safe place out of the reach of children. Duration of Treatment The duration of treatment should be limited to five days. After this time, if symptoms do not resolve, consult your doctor. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. After taking the syrup, do not suppress the cough reflex. This will help remove mucus and phlegm from the lungs. If you feel that the effect of the medication is too strong or too weak, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Using More Than the Recommended Dose of Pecto Drill Syrup

In case of taking more than the recommended dose of Pecto Drill Syrup, stop taking the medication and immediately consult your doctor or pharmacist. Symptoms of overdose may include gastrointestinal disorders (including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain).

Missing a Dose of Pecto Drill Syrup

Take the missed dose as soon as possible, unless it is time for the next dose. In this case, skip the missed dose and continue using the medication as usual. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose. If you have any further questions about using this medication, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

4. Possible Side Effects

Like all medications, Pecto Drill Syrup can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. The following side effects may occur with an unknown frequency (cannot be estimated from the available data):

  • Nervous system disorders: headache;
