Pazopanib Viatris belongs to a group of medicines called protein kinase inhibitors. The medicine works by inhibiting the activity of proteins involved in the growth and spread of cancer cells.

Before starting to take Pazopanib Viatris, the patient should discuss with their doctor:

High blood pressure and taking Pazopanib Viatris
Pazopanib Viatris may cause high blood pressure. The patient's blood pressure will be monitored before starting and during treatment with Pazopanib Viatris.
If the patient has high blood pressure, the doctor will prescribe blood pressure-lowering medicines.
The doctor will advise stopping Pazopanib Viatris at least 7 days before surgery, as the medicine may affect the healing process of the post-operative wound. Treatment will be resumed after the wound has healed.
Pazopanib Viatris may worsen certain disorders or cause severe side effects. While taking Pazopanib Viatris, it is essential to pay attention to certain symptoms to minimize the risk of adverse reactions. See section 4.
Pazopanib Viatris is not recommended for patients under 18 years of age. The medicine's effects in this age group have not been established. Additionally, for safety reasons, the medicine should not be used in children under 2 years of age.
Tell the doctor or pharmacist about all medicines currently being taken or recently taken, as well as any planned to be taken. This includes herbal preparations and other medicines available without a prescription.
Some medicines may affect the action of Pazopanib Viatris or increase the risk of side effects.
Pazopanib Viatris may also affect the action of other medicines. These include:
Do not take Pazopanib Viatris with food, as it affects the absorption of the medicine. Take the medicine at least 2 hours after a meal or 1 hour before a meal (see section 3).
Do not drink grapefruit juice during treatment with Pazopanib Viatris, as it may increase the risk of side effects.
Pazopanib Viatris is not recommended during pregnancy. The effects of Pazopanib Viatris on pregnancy are not known.
Do not breastfeed while taking Pazopanib Viatris. It is not known if the ingredients of Pazopanib Viatris pass into human milk. Consult the treating doctor.
Men(including men who have had a vasectomy), whose partners are pregnant or may become pregnant (including women using other contraceptive methods), should use condoms during sexual intercourse while taking Pazopanib Viatris and for at least 2 weeks after the last dose.
Treatment with Pazopanib Viatris may affect fertility. Consult the treating doctor.
While taking Pazopanib Viatris, side effects may occur that can affect the ability to drive and use machines.
The medicine contains less than 1 mmol (23 mg) of sodium per dose, which means it is considered "sodium-free".
This medicine should always be taken as directed by the doctor. In case of doubts, consult a doctor or pharmacist.
The usual dose is 800 mg taken once a day. The dose can be taken as two 400 mg tablets or four 200 mg tablets. The maximum daily dose is 800 mg. The doctor may reduce the dose if the patient experiences side effects.
Do not take Pazopanib Viatris with food. Take the medicine at least 2 hours after a meal or 1 hour before a meal. For example, take the medicine 2 hours after breakfast or 1 hour before lunch. Take Pazopanib Viatris every day at the same time.
Swallow the tablets whole, one after the other, with water. Do not break or crush the tablets, as this affects the absorption of the medicine and may increase the risk of side effects.
If too many tablets are swallowed, consult a doctor or pharmacist. If possible, show the packaging or this leaflet.
Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose. Take the next dose at the usual time.
Take Pazopanib Viatris for as long as the doctor recommends. Do not stop taking the medicine unless the doctor advises it.
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Possible serious side effects
Brain swelling(reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrome). Rarely, Pazopanib Viatris may cause brain swelling, which can be life-threatening. Symptoms include:

Hypertensive crisis(sudden and severe increase in blood pressure)
Pazopanib Viatris may rarely cause a sudden and severe increase in blood pressure. This condition is known as a hypertensive crisis. The doctor will monitor the patient's blood pressure while taking Pazopanib Viatris. Symptoms of a hypertensive crisis may include:

Pazopanib Viatris, 200 mg film-coated tablets are pink, capsule-shaped, film-coated tablets with "200" engraved on one side. The medicine is available in blisters of 30, 60, or 90 tablets, multipacks of 60 or 60 x 1 (2 cartons of 30 or 2 cartons of 30 x 1) tablets, 90 or 90 x 1 (3 cartons of 30 or 3 cartons of 30 x 1) tablets, and in plastic bottles of 30 or 90 tablets or multipacks of 90 (3 bottles of 30) tablets.
