This medicine is available without a prescription, so that you can treat certain conditions without the help of a doctor.
However, to achieve good treatment results, you should use Gaviscon Mint Flavor carefully.
Gaviscon Mint Flavor belongs to a group of medicines called "gastroesophageal reflux suppressants", which creates a protective layer that persists on the surface of the stomach contents, preventing the reflux of acidic stomach contents from the stomach, which causes pain and discomfort in the esophagus.
Gaviscon Mint Flavor is used to treat symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux, such as belching, heartburn, and indigestion (associated with reflux), for example, after meals or during pregnancy, as well as in patients with symptoms associated with reflux esophagitis.
The medicine contains sodium (143 mg/10 ml) and calcium (64 mg/10 ml). The maximum recommended daily dose of this medicine contains 1140 mg of sodium (a component of table salt). This corresponds to 57% of the maximum recommended daily dose of sodium in the diet for adults.
Gaviscon Mint Flavor is intended for short-term use, unless otherwise directed by a doctor. If you are taking Gaviscon Mint Flavor regularly or for a long time, especially if you are controlling your sodium intake, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist.
You should consult your doctor in case of kidney or heart disease, as increased salt content increases the risk of these diseases.
You should consult your doctor in case of reduced gastric juice secretion, as this medicine may be less effective in this case.
If symptoms do not improve after seven days of treatment, you should consult your doctor.
You should not use this medicine within two hours of using other medicines, as it may affect the effectiveness of some medicines.
You should tell your doctor about all medicines you have taken recently, including those available without a prescription.
This medicine can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
The medicine contains methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218) and propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216), which may cause allergic reactions (also delayed).
For oral use.
The medicine should be shaken before use.
Adults, including the elderly, and children over 12 years: 10-20 ml after meals and before bedtime (up to four times a day).
Children under 12 years: to be given only after consultation with a doctor.
Adverse effects due to excessive dose of the medicine are unlikely.
However, the medicine may cause a feeling of bloating and discomfort in the abdominal cavity. If it does not pass, you should contact your doctor.
In case of a missed dose, you should not take a double dose at the next administration. You should continue treatment as before.
Like all medicines, Gaviscon Mint Flavor can cause side effects, although they may not occur in every patient.
If side effects occur, you should stop using the medicine and consult your doctor immediately.
Very rarely (less than 1 in 10,000 patients), allergic reactions to the components of the medicine may occur.
Symptoms such as skin rashes, itching, difficulty breathing, dizziness, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat may occur.
If you experience any side effects, including those not mentioned in this leaflet, you should tell your doctor or pharmacist. Do not use Gaviscon Mint Flavor after the expiration date (month/year) stated on the packaging after the words "EXP". The date indicates the last day of the given month.
Do not store above 30°C. Do not store in the refrigerator or freeze.
Before first use, check the seal on the cap for damage.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste containers.
You should ask your pharmacist what to do with medicines that are no longer needed. This will help protect the environment.
The active substances of the medicine in each 10 ml dose are 500 mg of sodium alginate, 267 mg of sodium hydrogen carbonate, and 160 mg of calcium carbonate.
Other components of the medicine are carbomer 974P, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218) and propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216), sodium saccharin, sodium hydroxide, peppermint oil, and purified water.
This medicine does not contain sugar or gluten.
Gaviscon Mint Flavor is a white suspension with a minty smell and taste.
Available packs: bottle of 150 ml, 200 ml, 250 ml, or 300 ml.
