Rutin and ascorbic acid (vitamin C) reduce the permeability and strengthen the blood vessel walls. Rutoside prolongs the action of vitamin C, delaying its oxidation. The medicine is indicated for use: in states of vitamin C and rutin deficiency - supporting the body's immunity; in sealing capillaries - preventing colds and alleviating flu symptoms.
Before taking Cerutin, consult a doctor or pharmacist. The medicine should be used with caution in patients with hemoglobin synthesis disorders and hemochromatosis. It should not be taken simultaneously with sulfathiazole. Vitamin C in high doses may cause increased excretion of oxalic acid, gout, uric acid stones, cystinuria, hypokalemia, hypercalcemia.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all medicines you are taking or have recently taken, as well as any medicines you plan to take. Increased action and toxicity of oral anticoagulant warfarin derivatives and sulfonamides (including the possibility of crystalluria). Vitamin C in doses greater than 1g per day may reduce the effectiveness of tricyclic antidepressants and aminoglycosides. Long-term use of rutin enhances the action of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Vitamin C increases iron absorption from the gastrointestinal tract. High doses of acetylsalicylic acid reduce the concentration of ascorbic acid in platelets and plasma.
In pregnancy and breastfeeding, or if pregnancy is suspected, or if you plan to become pregnant, consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine. No studies have been conducted on the safety of the medicine in pregnant women.
The medicine does not impair psychophysical abilities, the ability to drive vehicles, and operate machinery.
The medicine contains lactose (one coated tablet contains 1.90 mg of lactose). If you have previously been diagnosed with intolerance to some sugars, consult a doctor before taking the medicine.
Orally. This medicine should always be taken as described in the patient leaflet or as directed by a doctor or pharmacist. In case of doubts, consult a doctor or pharmacist. Adults: Prophylactically: 1 to 2 tablets per day. In cases of vitamin C deficiency: 1 to 2 tablets 2 to 4 times a day. Children and adolescents: Prophylactically: up to 12 years: 1 tablet per day, from 12 to 18 years: 1 to 2 tablets per day. In cases of vitamin C deficiency: up to 12 years: 1 to 2 tablets 2 times a day, from 12 to 18 years: 1 to 2 tablets 2 to 4 times a day. The medicine should only be taken by children who can swallow the tablet.
No cases of rutin and ascorbic acid overdose have been reported.
Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
| High doses of vitamin C (more than 500 mg per day) have a diuretic effect, may cause urine acidification, and consequently, crystallization of oxalates, urates, and calcium citrates in the urinary tract. Store in a temperature below 25 °C. The medicine should be stored out of sight and reach of children. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the carton and blister after the words "EXP". The expiry date refers to the last day of the month stated. Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. This will help protect the environment.
The active substances of the medicine are ascorbic acid and rutoside trihydrate. One tablet contains 100 mg of ascorbic acid and 25 mg of rutoside trihydrate. The other ingredients are: microcrystalline cellulose, corn starch, povidone, magnesium stearate. Coating: lactose monohydrate, hypromellose, titanium dioxide (E 171), macrogol 6000, yellow iron oxide (E 172).
Cerutin is a coated tablet. The tablets are yellow, round, and biconvex. The package contains 25, 100, 125, or 150 tablets in blisters.
