Olpam improves the symptoms of Parkinson's disease. Parkinson's disease is a long-term disease in which:
If left untreated, Parkinson's disease can make it difficult for you to continue with your normal daily activities.
Olpam contains two different medicines called: levodopa and carbidopa.
Do not take Olpam if any of the above applies to you. If you are not sure, consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before starting to take Olpam:
Tell your doctor if you or your family/caregiver notice that you are developing symptoms similar to addiction that make you want to take high doses of carbidopa/levodopa and other medicines used to treat Parkinson's disease.
Tell your doctor if you or your family/caregiver notice that you are developing impulses or desires to behave in ways that are unusual for you, or if you cannot resist the impulse, desire or temptation to carry out certain activities that could harm you or others. These behaviors are called impulse control disorders and include addictive gambling, overeating or spending, an abnormally high desire for sex (libido) or an increase in sexual thoughts or feelings (hypersexuality). Your doctor may need to review your treatments.
Olpam is not suitable for children under 18 years of age.
