1. What is Vitaminum B Richter and what is it used for

Thiamine hydrochloride, the active substance of Vitaminum B Richter, belongs to a group of vitamins that participate in the regulation of glucose metabolism in the body. Vitamin B has a beneficial effect on the nervous and muscular systems, as well as on heart function. Symptoms of vitamin B deficiency mainly concern the nervous system. They can also include gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, lack of appetite, constipation, and heart failure.
In certain conditions - during pregnancy, breastfeeding, during prolonged physical exertion or mental stress - the need for vitamin B increases, and therefore the taken doses should be higher.
Elderly people and patients who abuse alcohol have an increased need for vitamin B.

Vitaminum B Richter is used:

  • to treat vitamin B deficiency (beri-beri disease) and to prevent deficiency if the patient is on an elimination diet (a diet that excludes certain food components);
  • to treat disorders of the nervous system, heart, and skeletal muscles related to vitamin B deficiency;
  • to supplement vitamin B deficiency in alcoholism and cardiovascular disorders.

2. Important information before taking Vitaminum B Richter

When not to take Vitaminum B Richter

  • if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to thiamine hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6). An allergic reaction may manifest as a rash, itching, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or shortness of breath (if such symptoms occur, contact your doctor)

Warnings and precautions

Taking Vitaminum B Richter does not require special precautions in any patient group, except for patients who have been found to be intolerant to certain sugars (see below).

Vitaminum B Richter and other medicines

Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all medicines you are taking now or have recently taken, as well as any medicines you plan to take.
Antacids used in ulcer disease reduce the absorption of vitamin B.

Vitaminum B Richter with food, drink, and alcohol

The medicine is taken regardless of meals. Alcohol and tea reduce the absorption of vitamin B.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or plan to have a child, consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.
Vitaminum B Richter can be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Driving and using machines

Vitaminum B Richter does not affect the ability to drive and use machines.

Vitaminum B Richter contains lactose.

If you have been diagnosed with intolerance to certain sugars, you should consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

3. How to take Vitaminum B Richter

Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Patients addicted to alcohol
Usually, the recommended dose is 4 to 6 tablets (100 to 150 mg) per day.
Other patients
Usually, the recommended dose is 1 to 4 tablets (25 to 100 mg) per day.
Vitaminum B Richter is taken orally. Tablets are best taken at the same time of day, regardless of meals. Doses greater than 2 tablets per day should be taken in 2 divided doses, taken in the morning and evening.
If you feel that the effect of Vitaminum B Richter is too strong or too weak, consult your doctor.

Taking a higher dose of Vitaminum B Richter than recommended

In case of taking a higher dose of the medicine than recommended, there is no risk to the patient's health, because higher doses (which could be harmful to health) are not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract.

Missing a dose of Vitaminum B Richter

Take the next dose at the scheduled time.

Stopping Vitaminum B Richter treatment

Treatment of disorders and diseases for which Vitaminum B Richter is used is long-term. Do not stop treatment without consulting your doctor, even if you feel better.
If you have any further questions about the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

4. Possible side effects

Like all medicines, Vitaminum B Richter can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Vitaminum B Richter is a very well-tolerated medicine.
Both severe and mild side effects occur very rarely and only after intravenous administration of high doses of vitamin B.
Vitaminum B Richter did not cause significant side effects after oral administration.

5. How to store Vitaminum B Richter

Keep the medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the packaging. The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
Do not store above 25°C.
Store in the original packaging to protect from light.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. This will help protect the environment.

6. Contents of the pack and other information

What Vitaminum B Richter contains

The active substance is thiamine hydrochloride.
The other ingredients are: microcrystalline cellulose, crospovidone, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate, Ludipress (lactose monohydrate, povidone, crospovidone).

Vitaminum B Richter is a white tablet. On one side of the tablet, the marking "B1" is embossed, and on the other side, "25".
The pack contains 50 tablets.
