Tormentalum ointment is a complex medicine, prepared according to the monograph of the Polish Pharmacopoeia for composite tormentil ointment.
The medicine contains 3 active substances: liquid extract of tormentil rhizome, ichthammol, and zinc oxide.
Tormentalum ointment is used externally on the skin. The medicine has astringent and anti-inflammatory effects.
Do not use the medicine:
The medicine is intended for external use on the skin only.
Due to the dark color of the medicine, Tormentalum may cause clothing stains.
The medicine should not be used in the vicinity of mucous membranes.
Avoid contact with eyes.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all medicines the patient is taking or has recently taken, as well as any medicines the patient plans to take.
Do not use Tormentalum at the same time as other medicines used externally on the skin.
If it is necessary to use other skin medicines at the same time, apply them between applications of Tormentalum.
If the patient is pregnant or breastfeeding, thinks she may be pregnant, or plans to have a child, she should consult a doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine.
There is no data on the safety of using this medicine during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
No effect of the medicine on the ability to drive and operate machinery, as well as on psychophysical fitness, has been found.
Due to the presence of lanolin, the medicine may cause local skin reactions (e.g., contact dermatitis).
This medicine should always be used exactly as described in the patient leaflet or as directed by a doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, consult a doctor or pharmacist.
The medicine is intended for external use on the skin.
Unless otherwise directed by a doctor, apply a thin layer of ointment to the affected skin areas, 3 to 4 times a day.
If there is no improvement or the patient feels worse, contact a doctor.
There is no data on overdose when using the medicine as described in the leaflet.
In case of accidental ingestion, contact a doctor.
Apply the ointment as soon as possible, and apply the next dose at the usual time. Do not use a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
Sudden discontinuation of Tormentalum does not cause side effects.

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
During use of the ointment, skin irritation may occur, manifested by redness, burning.

Keep the medicine out of sight and reach of children. Store at a temperature below 25°C, in the original packaging. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the packaging. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month stated.
Tormentalum can be used for 6 months from the date of first use, without exceeding the expiry date stated on the packaging.
