1. What is Medical Oxygen Eurogaz and what is it used for

Medical Oxygen Eurogaz is a compressed gas with an oxygen content of not less than 99.5% by volume. Medical Oxygen Eurogaz is indicated in all forms of hypoxia. Oxygen therapy is particularly beneficial for patients with normal oxygen consumption, in whom a decreased oxygen tension is found in the venous blood mixture during atmospheric air breathing.

2. Important information before using the medicine Medical Oxygen Eurogaz

  • Medical Oxygen Eurogaz should be used in the case of:
    • patients whose arterial blood CO2tension is 9.3 kPa, as this may lead to carbon dioxide narcosis with loss of consciousness, and subsequently death
    • respiratory failure in a patient breathing spontaneously.

Particular caution should be exercised when using Medical Oxygen Eurogaz during:

administration of the drug in concentrations above 60% (in newborns above 40%) and in hyperbaric therapy.

Using other medicines:

Caution should be exercised when using high concentrations of Medical Oxygen Eurogaz and concomitant bleomycin therapy, as oxygen enhances the adverse effects of this cytostatic (pulmonary fibrosis).

Pregnancy and breastfeeding:

Before using any medicine, you should consult a doctor.

Driving and operating machinery:

It is not recommended to drive vehicles or operate machinery after oxygen therapy.

3. How to use Medical Oxygen Eurogaz

Oxygen therapy should be carried out in accordance with the doctor's recommendations. This is administered in concentrations from 21% to 100%.
Oxygen must be administered continuously. Interrupted oxygen administration is particularly dangerous, as an increase in CO2tension in the alveoli may cause a further decrease in oxygen concentration when the patient breathes air.
Removal of any dust particles. After mounting the reducer on the cylinder, check the sealing ring of the threaded connector. Then, open the valve on the cylinder and adjust the flowmeter to a flow rate of 4 l/min. Oxygen should be administered using special devices such as a nasal catheter or face mask.

Using a higher dose of the medicine than recommended:

The administered oxygen concentration should be reduced immediately or oxygen therapy should be discontinued.

4. Possible side effects

Like all medicines, Medical Oxygen Eurogaz can cause side effects such as: carbon dioxide narcosiswith loss of consciousness, subsequent hypoxia caused by sudden administration of pure oxygen. In newborns, retrolental fibroplasia may occur (name reserved for oxygen concentrations of 70% or higher). Administration of oxygen under pressure higher than 3 atm poses an explosion hazard. In the event of side effects, oxygen administration should be discontinued immediately and a doctor consulted.

5. How to store Medical Oxygen Eurogaz

Oxygen cylinders should be stored in a dry, cool, and well-ventilated place, away from heat sources and flames. Cylinders should be secured against falling. Direct sunlight exposure should be avoided.
Oxygen cylinders should be stored in an upright position, secured against falling. Direct sunlight exposure should be avoided.
Contact between oxygen and oils, greases, and other flammable substances should be avoided.
The technical condition of the cylinders and valves should be checked regularly.
Regulations regarding the storage and transport of medical gases should be observed.
Expiry date: see the date on the label.
In case of doubts, you should consult a doctor or pharmacist.
