  • 3. How to use Corn Plaster
  • 4. Possible side effects
  • 5. How to store Corn Plaster
  • 6. Package contents and other information

1. WHAT IS CORN PLASTER AND WHAT IS IT USED FOR

The Corn Plaster medicine contains the active substance salicylic acid. Salicylic acid, applied locally to the thickened skin, softens and loosens it, making it easier to remove.

Indications

Corn Plaster is indicated for the removal of single corns and calluses.

2. IMPORTANT INFORMATION BEFORE USING CORN PLASTER

When not to use Corn Plaster

  • -in hypersensitivity to salicylic acid or any component of the medicine (may cause rash, skin irritation),
  • in patients with circulatory disorders
  • in patients with diabetes,
  • in patients with kidney and liver failure
  • if the callus, corn, or surrounding skin is damaged, inflamed, or irritated.

When to exercise special caution when using Corn Plaster

Treatment should be discontinued and the Corn Plaster removed if skin inflammation, irritation, or allergic reaction occurs.
The medicinal plaster should only be applied to the corn – it should not be used on unchanged healthy skin or damaged skin, as salicylic acid is absorbed through the skin and may cause systemic side effects.
The medicine may cause skin irritation and rash.
Eye and mucous membrane contact with the medicine should be avoided.
Keep out of the reach of children.

Pregnancy

If the patient is pregnant or breastfeeding, thinks she may be pregnant, or plans to have a child, she should consult a doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine.
Corn Plaster should not be used during pregnancy, except for short-term treatment of a small single area of skin, a single callus.
Oral forms (e.g., tablets) of this product group may cause adverse effects in the unborn child. It is not known whether the same risk applies to Corn Plaster when used on the skin, on a callus.

Breastfeeding

A doctor should be consulted before using the medicine.
No studies have been conducted on the safety of use during breastfeeding.

Using other medicines

The doctor should be informed about all medicines taken recently, including those available without a prescription.
Concomitant use of other medicines with a peeling effect may cause excessive peeling of healthy skin.

Driving and operating machinery

The medicine does not affect the ability to drive and operate machinery.

Important information about some ingredients of the medicine

Due to the presence of lanolin, the medicine may cause local skin reactions (e.g., contact dermatitis).

3. HOW TO USE CORN PLASTER

The medicine is intended for local use.
The medicine should only be applied to the corn or callus.
In case of doubts related to the use of the medicine, a doctor should be consulted.
It is best to apply the medicine at night. Before using the medicinal plaster, the thickened skin should be moistened or wetted and then dried.
The protective foil should be removed and the medicinal plaster applied so that the "ring" is exactly on the corn. Then, both ends of the medicinal plaster should be wrapped around the finger.
After 2 days, the medicinal plaster should be changed, and after 4 days, the softened, thickened skin should be removed in a warm salt bath or soap bath.
In persistent cases, therapy can be repeated every 48 hours. The medicine should not be used for more than 14 days.
Children
The medicine should not be used in children under 12 years of age.

Using a larger dose of the medicine than recommended

In case of using a larger amount of the medicine than recommended, a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted.

Procedure in case of missing a dose of the medicine

A double dose of the medicine should not be used to make up for a missed dose of Corn Plaster.

4. POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

Like all medicines, Corn Plaster can cause side effects, although they may not occur in everyone.
Irritation, allergic reaction, and skin inflammation may occur.
If any of the side effects worsen or if any side effects not mentioned in the leaflet occur, a doctor or pharmacist should be informed.
Reporting side effects
If any side effects occur, including any side effects not mentioned in the leaflet, the doctor or pharmacist or nurse should be informed.
