Herbion Icelandic Moss, hard lozenges

1. What is Herbion Icelandic Moss and what is it used for

Herbion Icelandic Moss contains dry extract of Icelandic moss (Cetraria islandica). This is a traditional herbal medicinal product, recommended for adults and adolescents over 12 years old, as a soothing agent for irritations of the throat and mouth mucosa and accompanying dry cough.

2. Important information before using Herbion Icelandic Moss

When not to use Herbion Icelandic Moss

  • if you are allergic to Icelandic moss extract or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6).

Warnings and precautions

Before using Herbion Icelandic Moss, discuss it with your doctor or pharmacist.

  • In case of difficulty breathing, fever, or appearance of purulent sputum (containing pus), contact your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Herbion Icelandic Moss may delay the absorption of other medicines taken at the same time. Do not take any other medicines 30 minutes to 1 hour before or after taking Herbion Icelandic Moss.
  • If your condition worsens or does not improve after 7 days of taking the medicine, contact your doctor.

Children and adolescents

Do not use Herbion Icelandic Moss hard lozenges in children under 12 years old, as there is no possibility to adjust the dose for this form of the medicine. Hard lozenges are not suitable for children under 6 years old.

Herbion Icelandic Moss and other medicines

Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all medicines you are taking, have recently taken, or plan to take.

Herbion Icelandic Moss with food, drink, and alcohol

Do not eat or drink immediately after taking Herbion Icelandic Moss, as the medicine may be removed too quickly from the mucous membrane of the mouth and throat.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or plan to have a child, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this medicine.

Driving and using machines

No studies have been conducted on the effects on the ability to drive and use machines.

Herbion Icelandic Moss contains isomalt (E 953) and butylhydroxyanisole (E 320)

If you have previously been diagnosed with intolerance to some sugars, consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

3. How to use Herbion Icelandic Moss

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this patient leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.

Recommended dose for adults and adolescents over 12 years old:one lozenge eight times a day.

Overdose of Herbion Icelandic Moss

Do not take more than the recommended dose. No cases of overdose have been reported.

Missed dose of Herbion Icelandic Moss

Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.

4. Possible side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

  • Hypersensitivity reaction, usually manifested as itching, skin redness, shortness of breath, or swelling of the face, lips, and tongue.

If you experience any side effects, tell your doctor or pharmacist.

5. How to store Herbion Icelandic Moss

Keep the medicine out of the sight and reach of children.

Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the packaging after EXP.

What Herbion Icelandic Moss contains

  • The active substance is dry extract of Icelandic moss (Cetraria islandica).
  • Other ingredients are: ascorbic acid (E 300), mannitol (E 421), malic acid (E 296), sucralose (E 955), natural orange flavor, natural citrus flavor (butylhydroxyanisole (E 320)), curcuma oil, isomalt (E 953).
