Ambazone monohydrate
Faringosept is a disinfectant medicine used in infections of the mouth and throat. It has a bacteriostatic effect (inhibits the growth of bacteria) on some types of bacteria, such as streptococci (hemolytic, green-producing) and pneumococci, which are common causes of mouth and throat infections. It has a moderate effect on staphylococci. Faringosept does not disrupt the physiological intestinal flora. Faringosept is used as an auxiliary treatment in acute infections of the mouth and throat, such as tonsillitis, gingivitis, and mouth inflammation, as well as after tonsillectomy and tooth extraction.
The medicine contains lactose and sucrose (see below for further information).
No interactions have been reported between Faringosept and other medicines. However, if your doctor has prescribed other medicines, you should inform him about taking Faringosept.
Faringosept can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding, but you should consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
Faringosept has no effect on the ability to drive vehicles or operate machinery.
If you have been diagnosed with intolerance to some sugars, you should contact your doctor before taking the medicine.
Suck slowly 3 to 5 lozenges per day for 3 to 4 days. Do not swallow the lozenges, but let them dissolve slowly in the mouth. Take the medicine shortly after eating (15-30 minutes), do not eat or drink for 2-3 hours after taking the medicine. Do not exceed the recommended dose. If symptoms persist, you should contact your doctor.
In case of overdose, contact your doctor or pharmacist. There have been no reports of overdose. There is no specific antidote for ambazone. In case of significant overdose, vomiting should be induced or gastric lavage performed.
In case of a missed dose, take the next dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
Like all medicines, Faringosept can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. No side effects have been reported so far. Keep the medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Do not store above 25°C. Store in the original package. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the package. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month stated. Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. This will help protect the environment.
The pack contains 10 or 20 lozenges.
