Cinnarizinum
Cinnarizine counteracts the contraction of vascular smooth muscle caused by the action of many substances (including adrenaline, noradrenaline, serotonin, dopamine) through a common mechanism involving a decrease in the permeability of the smooth muscle cell membrane to calcium and thereby inhibiting its entry into the cells. This results in the dilation of cerebral and peripheral blood vessels, improving circulation and tissue oxygenation.
Cinnarizine reduces the stimulation of the vestibular system. It has antiemetic and slightly sedative effects.
Cinnarizine is a histamine H1 receptor antagonist and has antiallergic properties.
