Betahistini dihydrochloridum
Betanil Forte contains betahistine. It is a medicine used to treat dizziness.
Betanil Forte is used to treat symptoms of Meniere's disease, such as:
Betanil Forte is also used to treat dizziness of vestibular origin.

Betanil Forte is not recommended for use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.

Interactions can occur when medicines or substances affect the way other medicines or substances work, or cause side effects when taken at the same time.

Betanil Forte can be taken with or without food. However, Betanil Forte may cause mild stomach discomfort (listed in section 4). Taking Betanil Forte with food may help reduce stomach discomfort.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or plan to have a child, consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine.
It is not known whether betahistine is safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Therefore, betahistine should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless absolutely necessary.
It is unlikely that Betanil Forte will affect your ability to drive or use machines. However, remember that the diseases being treated with Betanil Forte (Meniere's disease and dizziness) can cause dizziness and nausea and may affect your ability to drive or use machines.
Betanil Forte contains lactose(a sugar found in milk).
If you have been diagnosed with an intolerance to some sugars, consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. If you are not sure, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Recommended dose:

If you are taking more than one tablet a day, spread the doses evenly throughout the day, e.g., take one tablet in the morning and one in the evening. Try to take the tablets at the same time each day. This will help keep a steady amount of medicine in your body.
Taking the medicine at the same time each day will also help you remember to take it.
If you have taken more than the recommended dose, consult your doctor. Take the package leaflet with you.
Symptoms of betahistine overdose include nausea, drowsiness, and stomach pain.
Do not stop taking Betanil Forte without consulting your doctor, even if you feel better.

Like all medicines, Betanil Forte can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Keep the medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Store the medicine at a temperature below 25°C, in the original package.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the carton and blister. The expiry date refers to the last day of the month.
The expiry date is stated on the carton as "Expiry Date (EXP):" and on the blister as "EXP:". The batch number is stated on the carton as "Batch Number (Lot):" and on the blister as "Lot:".
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. This will help protect the environment.
White or almost white tablets, round, biconvex, with a score line on one side.
The tablet can be divided into two equal doses.
Tablets are available in a carton containing 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, or 100 tablets, packaged in PVC/PVDC-Aluminum blisters.
Not all pack sizes may be marketed.
